released 22 July 2011
Knives of Spain is the 1-woman band of Gwen Young on classical guitar, Crumar Orchestrator, Crumar Performer, flutes, accordion, melodica, triangle, frame drum, tambourine, cabasa, clave, metronome, Casio PT-10, deerskin drum, resonator bells and vocals.
G. Young's eclectic compositions are rooted in her past life as performer of Indian and Western classical music, Moroccan and Turkish folk, bossa nova, and free improv. Although these experiences all contribute to her songwriting, Knives of Spain's sound lies within a tradition all its own.
All words+music are written/performed/recorded by G. Young, on real instruments + varying degrees of digital timbrel enhancement (sans loops, MIDI instruments or samples).
